We see more campers with dogs than we do cats but that is not to say the cats don’t enjoy the sport. There are plenty of them who travel thousands of miles with their loving owners from one end of the country to the other in the RV. If you’re thinking of traveling with your cat there are a few things you can do to make things better for both of you.
Collars are a must and they should have a bell on them. Even if the cat does not wear a collar at home, when camping it is important to know where the cats are at all times. So people need to have a collar with a bell so they can find the cat if they need to.
Some people have portable cages for the cat that allows them to be outside and enjoy the environment but still remain safely enclosed. The cats can enjoy your company all day as you putter around the campsite and then come inside when you do.
Finally people need to bring a smaller litter pan with them. RVs offer limited space so everything gets downsized. You can find compact litter boxes to accommodate your needs at most pet stores. If you keep things in the RV much like they are at home, your cat will be comfortable and will enjoy the ride.
Having a pet and going camping is possible. You just have to know some tips and it is very easy for you to go camping with any animal, even your cat.
